Twitter isn’t nearly big enough.
So, a slight reorganization to how I post information which my Facebook and Twitter people might be interested in. Recently, with the addition of my Twitter account (which completes my social network trifecta of Facebook, Twitter and Flickr) I’ve been more prolific with posting small thoughts and statements than I was with Facebook. The 140 character limit, though, doesn’t give me enough leeway with what I want to opine on.
Alternatively, FoS is a great tool for me to go into detail about topics, like the ones that Mike and I care about. But I almost feel awkward sharing links, images and things of a smaller nature on here. That stuff might be important enough for me to point to, but it seems like a waste of space on the main FoS blog.
Tumblr then, it seems, is the best solution for my problem.
Added to my portfolio site (hosted off FoS) is a ‘Sketchbook‘ section where I’m going to post everything that’s too inconsequential to post on FoS. You can either check it out there or at the host Tumblr site (link up with me if you have a Tumblr of your own). The win part for me is that when I update my Tumblr it also updates Twitter, Facebook, Sketchbook and (if I wanted it to) this Wordpress powered blog. All in all it makes keeping my various social networks informed.
Even bigger of a plus is the fact I can style the Tumblr blog to look similar to FoS. Win number 2.
I’ve slacked a tiny bit in posting on FoS, but there will be more to come. I’m not giving up on the blog, but I’m just shifting what I’m writing about so that FoS isn’t inundated with pointless crap – there are a plethora of other blogs that do that job fine. Now, it’s just a problem of keeping up on what I want to say on here. A 2010 resolution I’ll actually be able to keep.
I think.
